Golf

The first golf course in Thailand was built in Hua Hin in 1924 and there are now 8 courses within 30km of the town and more are under construction.
These courses are world class and green fees and caddy charges are very reasonable. Electric carts are available at several though a walk in the beautiful climate of Hua Hin is a pleasure in itself.
Whether a pro on a break or a family on a holiday, golfers will enjoy the professional facilities here.

Day Trips

Though the beaches and swimming pools are always beckoning, the Hua Hin area also has shopping, temples, waterfalls, caves, quaint neighborhoods and historical sites that will create memories for all members of the family. A leisurely drive though the countryside, where one can see rice paddies and pineapple plantations, children playing in the canals, and the beautiful scenery of Prachuapkirikhan and Petchburi provinces is also a must.

Nature Parks

Kaeng Krachan National Park extends along the Burmese border from Petchburi Province north of Hua Hin.
To the south, Thailand's first marine national park, Khao Sam Roi Yot, is only about 35 km away.
A bit further away, in Kanchanaburi Province, there are five more national parks, Erawan, Sai Yoke, Sri Nakarin, Khao Laem, and Chalerm Rattanakosin.

Thing To Do in Hua Hin Beach

Hua Hin is small enough that one can wander for hours without the need of motor transportation. Most hotels are no more than few minutes walk to the beach, the market or a friendly restaurant.
There are many shops selling local handicrafts, silver, silk, tailors to fit you for that custom suit, and dozens of photo opportunities.
Bicycles, motorcycles and small jeeps can be rented from shops around the Hua Hin Bazaar, near the Sofitel entrance. Unless you have extensive experience dodging kids, bicycles, scooters and the occasional cow, be very careful when driving yourself.

Beaches

The white sand goes for miles from the Sofitel at the end of Damnoenkasem Rd. At the main beach there are umbrellas for lounging and vendors will satisfy your needs for drinks and snacks, and even pony rides, jet skis and a Thai traditional massage.
Many beach front hotels have concessions for wind surfing and sailing needs and power boats can be hired. Walks down the beach will take you to temples and fishing villages.

Getting There

Hua Hin is 200 km south of Bangkok on the west coast of the Gulf of Thailand. Travel by automobile takes less than three hours.
The resort may also be reached by rail, coach, or daily flights from Bangkok.

Accommodation

There are close to 100 hotels and guesthouses in and around Hua Hin with over 3,000 rooms with more opening all the time.
While the smaller guesthouses have spartan rooms for a few dollars a night, high-rollers can be pampered to their heart's delight for a bit more at one of the several 5-star luxury resorts.

Dinning and Entertainment

The active fishing port guarantees fresh seafood and Hua Hin has it all, including dishes not found in other parts of Thailand. There are many styles of restaurant, from a row of large, brightly lit establishments with extensive menus along the beach near the pier, to small stalls at the lively night market specializing in only a tasty dish or two.
While Thai and Chinese seafood reign here, there are also many restaurants offering everything from pizza and pasta to tandoori chicken and meat pies and other popular international dishes.
Also be sure to sample the wide variety of fruits and kanoms (Thai sweets) available in restaurants, shops and stalls along the road. Though there is a 5-star international spa in Hua Hin, I'm sure no one loses weight during their stay here

Hua Hin is unlike any other beach resort in Thailand. If you're looking for bright lights and the frantic all-night action of cabarets and discos, you may be disappointed here. However, if you enjoy walks through the quiet winding streets of a friendly coastal village, sampling delicious seafood in restaurants overlooking the brightly lit fishing boats on the Gulf of Thailand or a round of golf on one of the several international standard links, Hua Hin could very well be what you're looking for; Hua Hin has a special character all its own.
Hua Hin became popular as a rainy season retreat in the 1920's with the construction of the railway line from Bangkok. The beautiful, colonial style Railway Hotel was built near Hua Hin's famous rocks in 1923 by the State Railway Authority, which also built Thailand's first public golf course in Hua Hin in 1924. In 1926, King Rama VII built the Klai Kangwon (Far From Worries) Palace on the beach a few km north of the Railway Hotel and this palace is still frequently used by the Royal Family. This set the stage for Hua Hin's popularity and unique ambiance which remains to this day.

There’s nothing like a nice refreshing swim in a pool on a hot summer’s day. But to even better that experience, there is the world’s longest swimming pool in the San Alfonso del Mar in Algarrobo, Chile.
This pool is made with seawater and measures a salty 1,013 metres in length.
The area of the pool is eight hectares, or 19.77 acres.
Construction of the pool was completed in December 2006.

Thailand's

beaches are well established, have warm water and weather, good food,
friendly relaxed people, comfortable accommodation and they're cheap
- incredibly cheap when compared to the Caribbean, Indian Ocean or
Pacific island paradises. Around $30/£20 a day should get you
an excellent double room with aircon, breakfast and maybe even a swimming
pool, though Phi Phi Don and Phuket prices will be slightly higher
than other beaches listed here.

Phuket
and Ko Samui are the only beach areas with international airports,
which makes them convenient but crowded - particularly with packaged
people. However, Thailand's roads are generally excellent and transport
is comfortable and reliable, so a flight to Bangkok - and anyone with
a grain of world curiosity has to see this wacky city - followed by
a bus/minibus to the beach of your choice is no hardship.

During the day, Pattaya's main promenade,the four-kilometer Beach Road that parallels the city's curving Acapulco-like coastile, looks more like a seaside park-cool and brezy under the canopy of palm leaves with the blue calm waters for backdrop.
At night , the road suddenly comes alive with twinkling lights from high rise hotels and condominiums and the neon signs of bars, shops, restaurants and businesses that cater to tourists. As darkness falls, part of the south end of the beach street is blocked off and make into a pedestrain mall appropriately called"Walking Streets". Small shops and good restaurants as well as glittering clubs compete for the attention of passers-by. Some of the restaurants offer fresh seafood live right out of tanks, cooked to order. Dinner can be eaten on small piers that extend onto the water.
The bars often have "hawkers" on the sidework to attract business but they are not obtrusive. No one is harassed or menaced. A simple"no" sends them away. Nevertheless, it is not an uncommon sight to see elderly white gentlemen walking with their arms around girl who are young enough to be their grand-daughters.
A word of caution though. You may be a faceless stranger in this city , but it's well to remember that during this orwellian age of live cams you can't really hide in the crowd. Secret cameras are strategically located along Beach Road, Walking Street and on Jomtien Beach. These real time images are fed live to the internet, allowing people around the world wives or husbands back home - to wwatch you as you walk down these roads.
Of course, such invasion of a visitor's "privacy" doesn't really matter, as long as you don't do anything wrong or foolish, like taking a pick-up date for walk along these wired places. Two main streets run parallel to the Beach Road- the 2 Road and the 3 Road. Both are also full of shops and restaurants. The three streets are interested by samall alleyways, to create a herringbone grid. There are clubs and bars everywhere.
To attract more upscale tourism and families, a number of very elegant hotels have been built around these areas. There's the Hard Rock Hotel, not so far from a new Marriott near the center of the town. The Siam Hotel chain has two high quality confortable properties. The Bayside sits mid-beach and the Bayshore sits at the end of town near the ocean. It is on over 40 acres of beautiful grounds that back up to a jungle-like forest. Two elegent 5- Star properties are situated at each end of town.
The Dusit Pattaya sits at the north end, Belonging to a Thai chain of about 20 major hotels worldwide, the Dusit has beautifully maintained grounds, with green lawns, brilliant flowers and topiary that create an immediate change from the noisy,dusty streets that surround it the lobby is a large atrium with elegant marble flooring . The back of the lobby opens onto a huge enclosed garden area with footpaths that lead to a bubbling waterfall. The effect is magical.
Pattaya may no longer be the sleepy fishing village it was fifty years ago. But thankfully, life here remains neat and easy.
